Sailors on long voyages across the open sea would carve into pieces of bone, often walrus tusks, with ink and the art of scrimshaw was born. With a sharp tool and India ink, it is essentially the same process as tattooing. A maker of scrimshaw is a scrimshander.

Ethel Smith is a pop organist and is most known for her mean rendition of Tico Tico on the Hammond organ. Special thanks to Kenny for sending this over.
